Our radio training facilities are set in the historic and magnificent Royal William Yard (PL1 3RP), tea, coffee, biscuits, loos are all on site

Our instructors have decades of teaching experience, as well as having worked commercially as well as providing radio support to major maritime organisations

This is the only compulsory qualification for leisure boating in the UK!

Anyone may use a VHF Marine Radio in an emergency, but would you know how? To use one routinely you must be qualified


The typically process for the SRC Radio course is:-

1) Click the "Pay Now" button to the right to enrol in the online study material, this takes between 2 and 7 hours depending on your background knowledge. This includes the VHF Handbook which we will post out to you

2) Successfully complete the online quiz at the end on the online study material

3) Click the link to the right "exams RYA" to pay for the in-person assessment

4) Book with us (or any RYA SRC centre) to have your assessment at Royal William Yard, dates can be seen on our main page or email braye@ plymouthseasafety.com

Other centres may charge a premium for the assessment, we do not even if you did your study elesewhere - there is no further charge to add to the RYA's fee
